Rene Auberjonois is a versatile character actor who has found significant income from stage, television, film and voice work. A Tony Award-winner, and multiple Emmy Award-nominee, Auberjonois is one of a handful of actors to have had a regular role in three long-running television shows. Unlike other actors with a similar record, however, his three roles have been distinct from each other, and in completely different genres (sitcom, science fiction, and legal drama).

One of his more memorable roles on film was that of the original Father Mulcahy in M*A*S*H. On television, he is famous for the regular roles of "Clayton Endicott III" on Benson, "Constable Odo" on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and "Paul Lewiston" on Boston Legal. Long stretches of steady employment as a regular on long-running series have alternated between years of steady guest work on television. Through it all, he has maintained a steady presence on stage, as well as a thriving career in voice work. His vocal talents have been heard on Avatar: The Last Airbender, Justice League Unlimited, and many other popular animated shows. He has also lended his voice to several videogames.

Like the fictional Jaime Sommers, Auberjonois is a graduate of CarnegieTech. He has been married to Judith Mahalyi since the age of 23, and comes from a family of some minor European nobility. He is the grandson of the Swiss painter René Auberjonois, and is the son of Pulitzer Prize-nominated journalist Fernand Auberjonois.Sadly, Rene passed away of Lung Cancer on December 8, 2019.
