Gary Lockwood is a former stunt man-turned-actor principally active from the late 1950s until the first decade of the 21st century. Despite a couple of starring roles in ill-fated television series in the 1960s, he has carved out a career as a guest actor on prominent television shows. Perhaps ironically, however, his best-known role will likely be that of ill-fated astronaut Frank Poole in the film, 2001: A Space Odyssey.

He is also known to science fiction fans as the chief antagonist in the second Star Trek pilot, "Where No Man Has Gone Before". His Lt. Commander Gary Mitchell was a prototype for the character of Will Decker in the original Star Trek motion picture.

His contributions to the bionic franchise were unusual in that he is one of the few non-regulars to appear in an episode of each series, and a reunion movie. Prior to his involvement with the franchise, he was married to fellow bionic alumn, Stefanie Powers.
