Years ago, George was jailed while being prosecuted by Oscar Goldman, then a public prosecutor. But when George couldn't make bail to visit his sick mother in the hospital, Oscar put up his own money to get him out. George affectionately refers to Oscar as "Goldie."
One of Our Running Backs Is Missing[]
Oscar travels to Pasadena on business and Steve tags along to catch his old friend, famous footballer, Larry Bronco play an important game at Rose Bowl stadium. But when Bronco is kidnapped, and no ransom is demanded, Steve suspects a connection to sports betting. Oscar knows just the person to tap for information, and he takes Steve to meet George.
