Born in Berlin in 1940, Elke Sommer and her family evacuated to southern Germany in 1942. Ms. Sommer moved to Great Britain in 1955. She was a familiar face in spy movies and comedies of the 1960's. Later she appeared as a frequent guest-star in television and made-for-television movies.
In recent years, Ms. Sommer has focused on writing and painting.
