Brock Peters was a veteran character actor, undoubtedly best known as the accused murderer whom Gregory Peck's character defended in To Kill a Mockingbird.
Though he came to inhabit large roles in the genre only late in life, science fiction — and, specifically, Star Trek — gave him two of his more memorable roles. He was Admiral Cartright in Star Trek IV and VI. But he had a larger role in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, where he played Joseph Sisko, the patriarch of the Sisko family.
